Psalm 66:20
New International Version (NIV)
Praise be to God,
who has not rejected my prayer
or withheld his love from me!
For Meditation
- What is on your mind today? What is your worry this morning? Can you consider the victory song of David this morning (Ps. 66:1-20)?
- Are your financial walls collapsing? Does your future look bleak? Is it about your job or business? Is it your marriage, children, or your obsessively intrusive in-law? Has another person breached the sanctity of your matrimonial wall or it’s just a misunderstanding that is lingering with its coldness?
- Do you want to talk about it? Why not call heaven on the emergency line as David did (Ps. 66:17)? Have you forgotten your merciful and compassionate Father who will never reject your prayer or withhold His love from you (20)? Isn’t He gracious and kind enough to address your concerns with all the seriousness and fairness they deserve (Ps. 34:4, 6)?
- Have you forgotten the power in the name of Jesus (Jn. 14:14), your “merciful and faithful High Priest” (Heb. 2:17), who feels your pain and sorrow and can empathize with your weaknesses (4:15)? Is He not patiently waiting for you to “approach the throne of grace with confidence” to claim His promise of answered prayer (v.16)?
- Are you so weak that you can’t pray? Why not lean on the Holy Spirit to intercede for you “in accordance with God’s will” (Rom. 8:26-27)? And when the tripartite ministries of the Godhead move on your case, what issue can resist His peaceful resolution?
I pray you take the David challenge right now with all seriousness and passion, and see if the Lord would not surely listen to your plea and bring you the victory (Ps. 66:16-19; Heb. 4:16).
So: May you stop worrying and call on your Father in heaven with your request and a thankful heart; and may He respond with His peace, “which transcends all understanding” to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:7).
Shalom
