Genesis 2:20
New International Version (NIV)
But for Adam no suitable helper was found.
For Meditation
The fluorescent system that lights our apartment is the best I have seen. Not only are they stylish and decorative, they are very bright and energy efficient. There is only one problem. They are very old and their replacement bulbs are difficult to find. We have combed the entire city of Dakar without success. Our electrician finally decided to create a bypass connection and installed a temporary system for our use. The old system still decorates our walls, but they are functionally useless because there is no suitable bulb for them.
The problem we have in our apartment is not the functionality of the old fluorescent system. It is about finding a suitable bulb to fit into our system. No other bulb would do because the manufacturer was specific in the design of a bulb that is suitable for the system.
When God created Adam, he was the only human among His entire creation. God declared that it was not good for Adam to be alone. “I will make a helper suitable for him” (Gen 2:18). All the animals were created male and female, and they were suitable for each other. However, none was found suitable for Adam. “Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man” (22). Eve, as Adam called the woman, was the only person God specifically made as a suitable companion for Adam, for the fulfilment of his God-given mandate as the custodian of the earth (1:28). In God’s infinite wisdom, another man was unsuitable for Adam. Adam clearly identified his suitable mate as, “woman,” and he used the female pronoun, “she,” to describe her (2:23).
Man’s suitable helper has never been another man and never can be. Forcing to make a male, the companion of another male, or a female, a companion of another female is futile and lunatic. None of God’s other creation has ever tried to make that unsuitable alteration to their relationships, except intelligent humans. The Akan’s of Ghana have a proverb that says: “When you become too wise for your own good, you bid the goat, ‘Good morning.’”
- Is that not what the modern human has become?
- Have you fallen for this sinful anomaly modern society claims as natural (Jer. 17:9)?
- Have you considered God’s mind and verdict against this death trap (Rm. 1:18-27; 1 Tim. 1:10)?
- Do you know that there is a cure in Jesus (Lk. 4:18-19; Jer. 8:22)?
- Will you allow Christ Jesus to come into your heart and cleanse it for His own habitation (Rm. 10:9-10, 13; 1 Jn. 1:9)?
I pray you accept the bonding of the male and female genders as the only natural arrangement of God, and not any homosexual other.
So: May your wife be your only suitable God-given helper, and not another man; and may you adore her alone and delight in her as your queen for the glory of God in Christ Jesus (Prov. 5:15-20).
Shalom
