Job 38:6-7
New International Version (NIV)
On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone—
while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels shouted for joy?
For meditation
- Isn’t music the language of heaven? Is that not why God has filled the entire creation with music? Don’t you hear music in every created thing?
- Didn’t the morning stars sing together in jubilant celebration when God laid the foundation of the earth (Job. 38:6-7)? Can you hear the sun, moon, stars, and all that fill the heavens, singing every time they burst forth in the skies, dancing their course in perfect choreography and display of God’s splendor and Majesty (Ps. 19:1-6)? Do you hear the trees of the fields sing for joy (Ps. 96:12), and the rivers clap their hands, and the mountains sing together for joy (98:8)? Isn’t it wonderful to hear the music in the wind, the sea, and the waves?
- Didn’t God ordain music on His “holy mount” (Ezek. 28:14), with the model of created perfection in wisdom and beauty, the anointed guardian cherub (12), leading in His orchestra until wickedness was found in him (15)? Can you challenge the proposition that music is the language of heaven?
- Has music stopped since then? Does it not continue unceasingly with the four living creatures serenading His holiness day and night (Rev. 4:8)? Can you hear the voices of the twenty-four elders who continually fall down with their crowns before Him in worship, declaring His glory in perfect harmony (11)? Can you hear the voices of uncountable angels singing and declaring Him as the only One who is “Worthy…to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise” (5:11-13)?
- So, why should the music stop with you? Why should the sound of worship cease in the hearts of His people? Why should the redeemed fail to take their place in the total worship and praise of our great Creator, Redeemer, and King – Jesus Christ – who is enthroned in heaven forever?
I pray you will understand why David, the Psalter of Israel, was called a man after God’s own heart (1 Sam. 13:14); and, like him, you will not allow anything to stop the flow of music that rises from the depth of adoration and consecration to the King of Glory, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
So: Sing to Him a song of praise today, and fill your space with worship until His glory surrounds you like never before.
Shalom
