Acts 7:22
New International Version (NIV)
Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action.
For Meditation
Moses made one critical choice in life:
“He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin” (Heb. 11:25).
He walked away from the privileges of Pharaoh’s court, the advantages of his high learning in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and his powerful oratory and skills for the sake of Christ (Acts 7:20-22; Heb. 11:26). Consequently, Moses became a powerful instrument in God’s hand and a blessing to his people and nation. His life has now become a pattern for total self-denial and cross-bearing for proper discipleship (Matt. 16:24).
- What has been your one critical choice in life?
- What did you have to walk away from or give up in making that choice? Are there any more to let go?
- Are you willing to deny yourself and pick up your cross and follow Jesus?
- Do you consider that move “for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of [this world]”
- Does eternity with Christ hold any attraction for your soul? What’s holding you back from Him?
I pray that you will finally realize that the pleasures and privileges of this world are temporal, deceiving, enslaving, and condemning before God.
So: May you make that hard choice today to walk away from the attractions of the world system and give yourself completely to Christ; and may you find the peace and joy that comes through Him alone.
You cannot go wrong, my friend!
Shalom
