Genesis 24:26-27
New International Version (NIV)
Then the man bowed down and worshiped the Lord, saying, “Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master.”
For Meditation
He was the chief servant of Abraham, on a mission to court a wife for his master’s son. The journey was long, but he endured it. But how could he know the right woman for Isaac when he got there? He referenced his master’s lifestyle and turned to Abraham’s God in prayer. God answered instantly and pointed Rebekah out to him as the woman for Isaac. The servant knew what Abraham would have done in that instant of answered prayer – give thanks to his God. So, the servant “bowed down and worshipped the Lord.” He poured his heart before the Lord and thanked Him, “Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master” (Gen. 24:26-27).
- Isn’t that a wonderful testimony? How about you?
- Do you have anything to thank the Lord for today?
- Is there any reason why you cannot thank Him?
- Has He not been good to you throughout the year?
- Is it too much for you to acknowledge God’s goodness and raise your hands in surrender and thanksgiving to the King of kings and Lord of your life?
I pray you will be spontaneous in praising the Lord and thanking Him for His manifold blessings upon your life and that of your family. He deserves it for just who He is and what He has made you in Christ Jesus.
So: May we join our American friends today with grateful hearts to thank the One who bore all our sins on the cross to save us; and may you rejoice in the liberty you have in the Holy Spirit and express your heart in profuse thanksgiving to Jesus today. He is worthy and deserving.
Happy Thanksgiving Day.
