Ezra 7:10
New International Version (NIV)
Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the Lord, and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel.
For Meditation
- Do you know that you are a priest of God? (1 Pt. 2:9) As priest, are you committed to the devotions of your office just as Ezra was (Ezra 7:10)?
- Have you devoted yourself to the study of God’s word?
- Have you devoted yourself to live in obedience of God’s word?
- Have you devoted yourself to impart the word of God to others around you, if not formally, through your life? (Phil. 3:17)
- Do you know that as you make these three things your daily devotions, you will grow in your faith faster than you imagined? Is that your heart’s desire for this year?
I pray you will make every effort to show yourself approved by God in a way that would make you stand confident and shameless in the light of His word (2 Tim. 2:15); and ultimately, when Christ returns.
So, may the gracious hand of God that was upon Ezra and guided him safely from Babylon to Jerusalem to lead in the rebuilding of the temple, rest upon you mightily to guide you through all your undertakings, because you have devoted yourself to the duties of your office as a royal priest of God!
