James 5:11
New Living Translation (NLT)
We give great honor to those who endure under suffering. For instance, you know about Job, a man of great endurance. You can see how the Lord was kind to him at the end, for the Lord is full of tenderness and mercy.
For Meditation
- Are you groaning under the weight of abuse of any kind? Are you suffering and burdened?
- Can you have a godly perspective about it and plan to respond in a way that will bring glory to Christ as the Lord of your life?
- Don’t you know that He’s faithfully attending to your case now (Rm. 8:34)? Have you studied His word to apprehend God’s promises concerning your issues? Can’t you see from James 5:1-5 that those who oppress you are the ones to be pitied? So, can you be patient and endure a little longer for God’s intervention?
- Do you remember how James likens your endurance to a farmer who patiently waits for the autumn and spring rains for cropping and a rich harvest (v.7)? Can you recall Job’s perseverance and the blessings God finally showered on him (Job 42:12:15)? Don’t you serve the same God? Wouldn’t He also reward your faithfulness as His child?
- Can you recall God’s jealousy for His children and how He watches over them with eagle’s eye (Deut. 32:11)? Don’t you think that He whose very name is Jealous, and is jealous about His relationship with you, cannot forget to have compassion and bring you justice (Ex. 34:14; Is. 49:15)?
I pray that you can wait with patient endurance for God’s intervention in your issues all the time. His peace is able to clear all the negative thoughts from your mind, prepare and strengthen you for a glorious victory.
So, may you focus on Jesus for your example and your encouragement in suffering; and may you not grow weary or lose heart till victory is pronounced in His matchless name, amen.
Shalom
