Mark 4:39
New International Version (NIV)
He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
For Meditation
- What storm is sweeping through your home, business, work, or personal life at this moment?
- How strong and consistent are the wind and waves buffeting the boat of your life? How lonely and helpless do you feel in it?
- Have you started writing your last testament because of your situation? Have you initiated some desperate moves that may be aggravating your pain? Are you grabbing anything that seems or sounds like help to you?
- Would you stop right there before fear drives you into the depth of that sea of adversity that is threatening to drown you? Can you lift your eyes and see the One with you in the boat – Jesus Christ your Savior?
- What makes you think He is sleeping and doesn’t care? Have you forgotten the comforting assurance of Psalm 121?
- But, wait a minute. Can you see His glory when He gets up and rebukes the wind and says to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Can you observe and be amazed when the wind dies down and completely calms down (Mk. 4:39)?
- Isn’t that wonderful? Isn’t it great to have a Savior who is always right there by your side when the going gets tough and the worst seems to be having the best of your life?
- So, why did you miss His manifest Presence with you in the first place? How could you think for a minute that with Jesus in your life, the storms of this world could drown you?
- Can you hear His gentle rebuke: “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” (40).
- Have you forgotten that He is God? Have you forgotten that He is the Maker of the sea and the wind and the waves? Have you forgotten His power over them?
- Reach out to Him and your appropriate response would be, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” (41).
I pray you will never forget that Jesus is God; and because He is God, He has authority and command over every situation in your life. Nothing is too difficult or impossible for Him!
Just worship Him.
Shalom
