Give Yourself No Rest

Psalm 132:3-5

New International Version (NIV)

“I will not enter my house
or go to my bed,
I will allow no sleep to my eyes
or slumber to my eyelids,
till I find a place for the Lord,
a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

For Meditation

  1.  How determined are you to honor God in your walk with Christ? How many resolutions have you made about this at key moments of your life? How well have you followed through with them?
  2. Were those resolutions made on the spur of the moment, or they were deep yearnings of your heart?
  3. How zealous are you for the holiness of God? Does it show in a determined effort to keep your body pure for the habitation of the Lord (Dan. 1:8; Ps. 132:5; 1 Cor. 6:19)? Do you see where victorious Christian living departs from defeat?
  4. Is that not what the Lord looks for – the determination of the heart to honor Him in every way? Doesn’t God search through the world to strengthen His dedicated followers (2 Chron. 16:9)? Doesn’t His word also reveal the situation of His children’s hearts (Heb. 4:12)?
  5. Why do you think God called David, “a man after His own heart” (1 Sam. 13:14)? Can you feel the pulse of David’s heart in Psalm 132:1-18? Can you feel his heart’s determination to give himself no rest until he found a dwelling place for the Lord (Ps. 132:3-5)? With such determination and desire, why wouldn’t God covenant with David (11-12)?
  6. How about you? Why do you live as if there is no urgency to make your heart a comfortable dwelling place for Christ? Why have you convinced yourself that God doesn’t care about your lukewarm faith (Rev. 3:15-16)?

I pray that your heart’s cry will be after God’s holiness. So, you give yourself no rest until you glorify God in everything you say and do.

May you determine to honor God in everything. May the Lord grace you with strength to uphold your faithfulness to Him, in Jesus’ name, amen!

Shalom
