Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations .

Jeremiah 1:5

 The story is unverified, but it illustrates so well, how our Maker, God Almighty, completely knows us and has the remedy for every situation in our life. It is the story told of Henry Ford who stopped to help a stranded motorist on a remote road in the middle of nowhere. One version says the surprised motorist asked the stranger how he knew so much to fix his car so quickly when he, a master mechanic, couldn’t fix it. To this, the stranger responded: “I am Henry Ford. I made the car!” Can you imagine the sudden switch in emotions when the unidentified motorist was introduced to the most famous automobile maker in America at such an awkward time and in such a strange way and at the most unlikely location?

Jeremiah may have felt the same way when the Lord introduced Himself to him in this way: “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations” (Jer. 1:5). What comforting word it was to Jeremiah who was struggling to understand God’s call on his life! But isn’t it also true of you?   

Set on the highway of 2019, in the middle of nowhere and with many cars whisking by, fearful and uncertain of what the rest of the year holds for you (6), is it not comforting to hear the voice of the Lord effectively assuring you of His help for the future? “I Am God and I made you! I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born, I had ordained 2019 to be your year of destiny. I appointed you to glorify me with great accomplishments and victories over every challenge that may confront you. I know what you can do with my help and guidance. So, do not be afraid of anything. I will be with you at every step of the journey through the rest of the year.” Isn’t that wonderful?  

I don’t know what you’re afraid of. But where would the power of fear be if you allow the force of these words to resound in your heart right now? Why would you fear when the One who made you has stopped to fix your broken life on earth’s highway, and to set your feet upon the firm country road to heaven?

Rejoice, my friend! Let this word of the Lord break powerfully in your heart to empower you for a victorious second half 2019. He has won the victory for you already. Believe, apprehend, and live it in Christ Jesus. The storms will rise. The gale may seem overwhelming. The fog may be too dense, and there would be times you would feel lost and helpless. But your Maker always knows where you are and will timely come by your side to fix you for the journey ahead. 

May the Spirit of God strengthen your hand in whatever He leads you to do with courage, in the matchless name of Jesus!
