So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10.
Little Annie woke up in the middle of the night with a bad dream. The room was dark, so she screamed.
“It’s alright, darling.”
Annie threw her arms around her mother in a big hug.
“Don’t leave me, mommy. They will kill me.”
“I will not leave you, sweetheart. Mommy is here to protect you.” With that, she rocked Annie until she became heavy and limp in her arms. She kissed her and turned toward the door.
“No, Mommy. Don’t leave me. They will come back.”
Sitting in a chair across the room, Adobea assured her daughter, “Mommy will not leave you. See, she is sitting right here, and will be here all the time.”
Annie’s face brightened. She thanked her mother, and finally drifted away.
The effect of a mother’s presence with her child is amazing. It gives the child security and comfort. That is how God the Father is to us.
God knows the snares and dangers of this world. He knows the intensity of the ragging battle between His children and the enemy. He knows that we are weak against these forces of darkness. He never leaves us to confront them on our own. He has dressed us in His Armor (Eph. 6:10-18) and assured us to never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5; Matt. 28:18-19).
The presence of the Holy Spirit in us gives us power over these forces (2 Tim. 1:7) and confidence for witnessing (Acts 1:9). This awareness makes us strong and drives away every fear. Our Conquering King, Christ Jesus, who rules over everything seen and unseen, has given us authority to destroy all the works of the enemy (Lk. 10:19). To Him be all glory and honor, amen.
“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)

Amen! For he is our tower of refuge.
