In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle, David sent Joab … But David remained at Jerusalem … It happened, late one afternoon, when David arose from his couch and was walking on the roof of the king’s house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful.
2 Samuel 11:1-2
Your Encouragement
In the spring of 2020 when people normally go to work, when Christians gather for soulful worship, and missionaries and evangelists go out in dedicated witness, and children hurry to school, COVID-19 has driven everybody off the streets, church houses, schools, and ballparks … we have been confined to our homes.
It’s not your fault that you are home and shut in. You did not choose to remain home, like David chilling in his palace. It’s been imposed on you, but you do have a choice.
You don’t have to be like David in his leisure walk on the roof and get yourself caught up in any spiraling sin. You can avoid such a situation, whatever it may be for you. You can control your environment with a consciousness of Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
So, get yourself occupied with what is edifying and profitable. Keep your eyes straight and away from alluring entertainment and enticing conversations. Keep your desires and impulses in check. Covenant with your eyes, ears, and mouth, and you will keep yourself out of trouble.
Have a blessed day with the Lord shining his face upon you.
Shalom
