Peace to You

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart because I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

For Meditation

In these tumultuous times, we can all take refuge in these words of our Savior, Jesus Christ. When He speaks to us, they are for our peace (Jn. 16:33a). Remember that He is the Prince of Peace, so every word He says is embedded with peace for His children.

However, He wants us also to know that trials and sorrows are normal life situations (33b). But there is hope for His believers. Christ assures us that He has overcome every situation in this world us, be it sickness, death, marital problem, financial crisis, emotional stress, or spiritual attack. Our Savior has already won the victory for us. He says [paraphrased], “Relax! Do not panic” (33c).

So, in your crisis moment, raise your eyes to the Lord. Lift the situation to Him in prayer. Rest in

Him, and receive His peace that surpasses understanding (Phil. 4:6-7).
Our peace comes from God’s nature and what Christ has already done for our sake and the Father’s glory.

Have a blissful weekend.
