What Report Have You Heard?

Now the house of David was told, “Aram has allied itself with Ephraim”; so the hearts of Ahaz and his people were shaken, as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind.

Isaiah 7:2

Your Encouragement

Two kings are marching against Judah. The heart of the people melts. Ahaz, their king, is shaken like a leaf in the wind (Isa. 7:2). What are we going to do?

When God’s people are in a fix, He knows exactly what He is going to do about their predicament. His eyes, like that of the eagle on the eaglet, are set keenly on His children to rescue and settle them. He does not leave them unprotected.

The Lord tells Isaiah to go and give a message of encouragement to King Ahaz.

“Be careful, keep calm and don’t be afraid. Do not lose heart because of these two smoldering stubs of firewood—because of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and of the son of Remaliah … It will not take place; it will not happen … If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all” (4-9).

That was all Ahaz had to know – the word of the Lord. And all he had to do in response was to stand firm in his faith. The rest was God’s work.

You may have received a report that has struck you with fear. All you need is the word of the Lord and your faith.

So, go to your Father in heaven and tell Him about your heart’s condition because of the report you have heard and listen to Him. Take comfort from what God told King Ahaz in his situation – “keep calm, don’t be afraid. Don’t lose heart because of [your report]. “

And trust Him to give you a personal word because He loves, and He cares for you.

It is well, my friend!

Shalom, and good morning.
