Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They *said to him, “We will also come with you.” They went out and got into the boat; and that night they caught nothing.
John 21:3
It is early in the morning and a little misty. The fog has not cleared, and visibility is low. You are exhausted already from the heaviness of your thoughts through the watches of the night. You received no direction from your prayers.
A shadowy figure stands at the shore. You pay no attention to it, for you are lost in your musing. Now, what next?
“Children, you do not have any fish, do you?”
What was that? And who the heck is that to remind me of my failure and misery?
“Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you will find a catch.”
Reluctantly you do and, BAM! Your boat is sinking under the weight of an extraordinary catch.
Who is this person?
This morning, the Lord wants to remind you that He knows where you are and what your situation in life is.
He has watched you struggle through the night and feels for you. It must not be that way.
He cares for you and does not want you to step into the day with the burden of defeat hanging over your shoulders.
He has come to relieve you of your self-inflicted wounds. Or you think it is the fault of your associates or the conditions around you?
Are you ready for Him?
Shalom, and good morning.
