He Is So Close to You.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Psalm 46:10

For Meditation

“It’s a miracle,” my wife shouted from the back of the Pickup truck. Our daughter and her family were visiting from the USA. Their two children, who were used to the music from their parents’ vehicles back home, felt grandpa’s truck was too quiet and boring. Our Radio/CD player had not been functioning for the longest time. Kayla, the oldest daughter, complained at last. “There is no music in the car.” Poor Grandpa!

As I struggled to explain my sorry situation to the little ear, a familiar song suddenly filled the air. “Where is that music coming from?” I asked. “It’s the CD player,” they shouted spontaneously. I think my daughter and her husband were the most relieved. They had quietly endured the deafening silence in the truck. So, what a delightful change this was! Thankfully, God had heard the voice of their little girl and gave her music that we all enjoyed for the rest of their stay. Surprisingly, the sound system went dead again a few hours before they left Dakar.

The helpless little children needed music, so God had provided for them. Now grandpa was left to his responsibility to take care of his sound system. How instructive!

Have you ever been similarly surprised by God? Was your experience that exhilarating? Isn’t God wonderful? Through experiences like this, we learn about God and how closely He walks and deals with his children in need who ask – even in mundane situations like lack of music in a pickup truck.

In Psalm 46:10, God says, “Be still and know that I am God.” When the Almighty says, “[He] will be exalted among the nations; [He] will be exalted in the earth,” you can thoroughly trust Him.

So, what is your situation today? Is yours a lack of satisfaction on the job, a dry and dying marriage, a struggling financial condition, a dull environment in your church services, or a lingering health challenge? Commit it to Jesus and have the surprise of your life.

Shalom
