His Presence, Your Protection.

But the Lord is with me like a mighty warrior;

    so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail.

They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced;

    their dishonor will never be forgotten.

Jeremiah 20:11

For Your Encouragement

This scripture is one that I love so much. Jeremiah says he is confident in the presence and protection of the Lord against his enemies. Jeremiah is sure that those who plan to assault his life will suffer defeat when God makes His move against them (Jeremiah 20:11).

Yesterday, it was the sound of impending danger. Today, it is the whispering of conspiracy against you from friends. Your persecutors fast, pray, and wait for you to slip and fall. That they may see your nakedness; that they may pounce on you and have a “good” laugh. That was Jeremiah’s situation with his people (10).

BUT!

Boy, I love this.

Just as the Lord was with Jeremiah like a mighty warrior, so is He with you (Jer. 20:11; cf. Joshua 5:13-14). So, do not be afraid. Your enemies will stumble and fall on their assault weapons. When they launch an assault against you in any form, they will fail every time. You can be confident that they will be disgraced. Their dishonor will tower like a memorial in their name—always haunting them.

That is what I love about the Lord. He stands with His children like a Mighty Warrior. Those who take the time to have intimacy with Him know this truth, and they savor it.

So, you who love the Lord Jesus, remind yourself of who He is and trust Him against all your tormentors. Commit your case to the Lord, for He has assured you that vengeance is His and that He will repay (Rm. 12:19). His presence with you should be your peace. Your assurance is He will take care of it. You will have the last laugh.

Be still and know that the Lord Jesus is God (Psalm 46:10).

Shalom
