Worship the King

“Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

Matthew 2:2

Your Encouragement

They came from the far east, bearing gifts. Men of high repute, wise and spiritual, they traveled with a purpose. Some say they specialized in astronomy. Others say they were men who had some teaching from migrant Jewish scholars. Whoever they were, they came because they had received a special revelation about the birth of “the one who has been born King of the Jews” (Matt. 2:2).

Led by a star, they came, not just to seek, look on him, and go away amazed. Their primary goal was to pay homage to the King of the Jews. They knew enough to know that the newborn King deserves worship. So, they traveled miles from their distant country to bow their knees to Him.

They were not disappointed. After meeting with Herod, the star led them from Jerusalem to Bethlehem, where they saw the child with His mother. Filled with joy, they bowed their knees and worshipped Him. And what is worship without sacrifice? Profusely they gave the newborn King; gifts of gold, incense, and myrrh (11). That is the responsibility of all those who hear about the birth of Jesus. It is a heavenly call to come, bow your knees, and worship Him as King of kings.

You do not have to travel far to come. Christ is where you are right now. Neither do you have to bring gold, incense, and myrrh. Your heart is all He requires. Come, therefore, and bow your knees in worship to the King, who is “called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

He is worthy of all glory and your praise!
