“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Roman’s 5:8
Revealed,
—heaven’s glory,
—condescending,
—a servant, on earthly plains
—clothed in a human body, humbled and frail,
—a virgin’s womb, His temporal tabernacle.
Palaces not His choice,
—a manger to receive
–-with bleating sheep, His only witnesses,
—heaven’s glory appeared.
While Bethlehem slept,
—and shepherds kept their flock by night,
—heaven’s glory, His first breath taken,
—in a world He created,
—the shrilling cry of an infant boy, filling the silent night.
With shepherds to peek,
—the wise to adorn,
—from distant lands,
—a jealous king to evade,
—and Egypt’s refuge to take,
—His struggles begun.
He hated no one,
—neglected no need,
—the poor, the needy, and the sick alike,
—his smile enlivened.
Language took on new meaning—
—marveled, they came from everywhere,
—in wonder and awe,
—they thronged around,
—night and day, they came,
—heaven’s glory to taste,
—so fresh, reviving the soul, renewing the spirit,
—hope revived,
—Palestine, now brimming with promise.
But why did he have to die, why that way?
—hatred, now satisfied, a wooden plank, His reward at last,
—heaven’s glory, with nails in their hands,
—pierced His hands and feet,
—forever to mark.
Why didn’t He fight back?
—Why did He take it; and forgiving too,
—how can God die?
All for you, my friend!
—your sins removed,
—heaven to receive you,
—Love demonstrated, Royal love, so amazing!
—all yours to embrace.
So, where are you when Love calls?
—your attention, now or never,
—opportunity you should not miss,
—before darkness closes in,
—and grace, no more to receive.
What will it be for you today?
