You have always put a wall of protection around him and his home and his property. You have made him prosper in everything he does. Look how rich he is!
Job 1:10
Your Encouragement
Do you sometimes feel inadequately protected by the Lord when things overwhelm you and opposition increases?
My wife tells the story of the night I traveled, and armed robbers attacked our neighborhood in Accra, Ghana. She was alone with our children. The armed robbers came so near to our house she feared they would enter. The Lord opened her eyes to look through our bedroom window to see a huge Lion crouching at our gate. Those wicked men turned away from our house and left in haste. Isn’t God good? Is He not wonderful?
This morning, I want to assure you that God’s protection around you is real. Job’s story is not a fable. Satan confessed his inability to penetrate the hedge of protection God had put around him (Job 1:10). You are no less covered.
You can read this and think your protection is not as perfect as that of Job. But remember this. God protects His children who dwell in His secret place in the same way (Ps. 91:1-16). In the shadow of the Almighty, you have the perfect refuge and fortress (3). God protects you from the snares of Satan and this world. The pestilence that has shut the nations down and into confusion will not come near you.
When the mother hen covers her chicks with her wings, can a marauding hawk catch any of them? Can the hawk carry the mother hen away with its chicks? Can the torrential rains touch the chicks?
It gets even better.
The Psalmist says God’s “faithfulness is your shield and rampart” (4c). From the rocky peaks and heights of Moab where Balak had summoned Balaam to put a curse on Israel, God’s people spread out in the plains below, Balaam confessed his inability to do so (Nu. 23:7-10). Contemplate it. Balaam could change nothing God had determined for Israel. God is not a wishy-washy Protector. He is faithful (19). We have the same assurance of His faithfulness to protect us. Only, let us remain loyal to Him (2 Tim. 2:13).
So, trust God to protect you and your family through this COVID era. Under His wings, you have assured safety.
His faithfulness is your guarantee.
