Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
Mark 4:38
Your Encouragement
The storm was real. It was furious and threatening. And the disciples, despite their experience with stormy conditions, were frightened.
Jesus was in the same conditions, but He was peacefully asleep in the stern. Two sets of people. Two different reactions to the storm. What was going on?
For the disciples, their circumstances determined their level of peace. Not so for Jesus. The storm, boisterous as it was, did not control Him. The disciples missed one aspect of their circumstance, the most important of everything around them in that storm – Jesus, the Lord of the sea, the angry winds and waves. Worse of all, they misconstrued His posture in the boat. Don’t we all?
So, what is the storm in your life today?
There are three lessons to take away this morning.
- Jesus is always with you in your storms, and He cares about your safety (Mk. 4:38).
- With Jesus in your life, it is possible to have peace in the storm (38a).
- The level of your storm determines the level of trust Jesus wants you to have in Him, though you think He does not care (40).
Can you trust Jesus in your storm today?
Shalom, and good morning.
Amen. This is a very refreshing message to me today. Thank you pastor.

Can be very scary at times, when the waves are 10s of feet tall. Lord remind me always you are the Lord of the waves.
Lord let me see you next to me, let me feel your hand in my hand. And when my faith is shaking. Talk to me, remind me that I have your peace now and always.

I know how it feels, son. May the Lord hear the unspoken cry of your heart and pull you closer to His in the moments of the 10feet tall waves, in Jesus’s matchless name.
