Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph saw where he was laid.

For Encouragement

 After He had created all things, God rested on the seventh day.

“By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so, on the seventh day he rested from all his work.Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done” (Genesis 2:2-3).

After He had made the ultimate sacrifice to reclaim lost humanity on Calvary, Jesus rested on the second day.

“Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body.Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth, and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.

The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment” (Luke 23:52-56).

So, rest today, my friend. For Jesus is resting from His rescue work to redeem you. But He will rise as He promised. Tomorrow is another day—the cream of His redemption plan. He will rise from the grave to give you life everlasting. That also is a done deal.
