Zechariah 3:1-4

New Living Translation

Then the angel showed me Jeshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord. The Accuser, Satan was there at the angel’s right hand, making accusations against Jeshua. And the Lord said to Satan, “I, the Lord, reject your accusations, Satan. Yes, the Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebukes you. This man is like a burning stick that has been snatched from the fire.”

Jeshua’s clothing was filthy as he stood there before the angel. So the angel said to the others standing there, “Take off his filthy clothes.” And turning to Jeshua he said, “See, I have taken away your sins, and now I am giving you these fine new clothes.

For Your Encouragement

A magnificent symbolism of forgiveness and Israel’s restoration as a priestly nation (Zechariah 3:1-4), but what a perfect picture of our salvation!

Just read it, meditate on it, and encourage yourself in the face of any relentless accusation in your life today. Then hear the word of the Lord because of the complete redeeming and cleansing work of Christ on your behalf:

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).

And again:

Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us (34)

So, take consolation in the word of God concerning you today, stand firm in His truth, and don’t get down into the gutter with your accusers.

But if you have sinned, remember that:

We have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. (1 John 2:1).

Confess your sin and take hold of His promised forgiveness and cleansing (1:9).
