Get It Right For Once

John 12:10-11

New International Version

So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.

For Meditation

Foolishness! All is foolishness. For who can remove the evidence God has given of Himself in Christ Jesus?

Better believe the miracle, my friend. Lazarus died, and they buried him. For four days, he remained in the grave until Jesus came and raised him (John 11:43). Everybody at the graveside witnessed this miracle, and that is the report you have heard.

Jesus is indeed the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in Him will live, even though they die, and whoever lives by believing in Him will never die (25-26).

He is the man reclining at the table with Lazarus – your local boy – as you can see (12:1-2). Do not remain in your unbelief and die for hell. Jesus has revealed His glory to you at the grave (49). Embrace Him for your redemption (Colossians 1:13-14). He is giving you time to decide.

All your arguments will not hold. The traditional beliefs will not carry when you stand before Jesus in judgment. Your philosophical treaties and humanistic convictions would fall flat on their false premises on that day. Your social, political, and economic realignment will prove deceptive when the real proponent and provider of those rights sit to declare His judgment in those cases. It is vain to hide behind the hatred and objection to the fake gospel enterprise and reject Christ. It will do you no good. Everyone will die for their sins and their response to Christ and His gospel message.

You may gain popularity for the excellent exposition of your arguments and the eloquence of your presentation. When people are suffering, they fall for anything that sounds good and convincing. You may rule the airwaves but remember that Satan is the ruler over it (Ephesians 2:2), and act wisely. Your rejection of the Gospel takes nothing away from the Almighty, who is sovereign over all things. God is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to saving knowledge in Christ Jesus (2 Peter 3:9).

So, show some prudence, my friend. Get off the broad highway of this crooked life that leads to death and take the narrow way to eternal life in Christ Jesus (Matthew 7:13-14; Romans 10:9-10, 13).

It is an individual choice, my friend, so get it right!

Shalom
