I cried out to him with my mouth; his praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me! – Psalm 66:17-20
What is on your mind today? What is your source of worry this morning?
- Are your financial walls collapsing around you? Does your future look bleak?
- Is it a job need or a situation in your job that is eating you up and sapping all your joy and strength away? Could it be your business in distress?
- What is the situation on the home front? Is your marriage on the rocks? Is it about the children, or have your in-laws become obsessively intrusive? How do you feel right now?
- Do you want to talk about it? Why not go on your knees and talk to your Father upstairs before you open your mouth to anybody else?
The good news is that God has waited to hear from you for the longest time. He is the only One who can help you. I do not have to tell you He will surely listen and hear your prayer (Psalm 66:19). So, lift your voice and call on Him now. See the calm and peace that will flow from His grace to you.
Your Father in heaven is a merciful God who will never withhold His love from you (v.20). He is gracious and kind and will address your concerns with all the seriousness and fairness they deserve.
Besides, you have Jesus Christ, your merciful and faithful High Priest (Hebrews 2:17) who feels your every pain and sorrow. He empathizes with you in your weaknesses (4:15). He is patiently waiting for you to “approach the throne of grace with confidence [to] receive mercy and find grace in [the time of your] need” (v.16).
But are you so down and weak that you cannot pray? Lean on the Holy Spirit. He will intercede for you “with groans that words cannot express” (Rom. 8:26).
So, may you take this challenge now with passion, and find peace in Christ Jesus” (Philippians. 4:7).
Can you praise the Lord this morning?
Happy Pentecost Sunday!
