New International Version
So, she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said.
Your Encouragement
Stop! Don’t do it. Please!
Abraham stumbled here. He suffered. Do you want to experience a similar setback?
He suffered. Do you want to experience a similar setback? The Lord has recorded his example for our caution (1 Cor. 10:11). Wait for the One who has promised. He is El Shaddai – God Almighty. There is nothing He cannot do. He is the Immutable God—He does not change. Our Lord deals faithfully with His people. He will be faithful to His promise.
So, wait for Him!
Does its fulfillment seem like an eternity to you? Are you praying for the salvation of a dear one? Is it for a life mate, a job, healing of a loved one? Consider how God reckons time, “A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night” (Psalm 90:4) and wait.
He told Habakkuk that the revelation was for an appointed time and will not prove false. Though it may linger, he should wait for it, for it will certainly come and will not delay (Habakkuk 2:3).
The waiting period may try your patience, but it builds your faith and confidence in Christ.
You are in God’s training program—His Boot Camp, as the Americans would say. So, be patient. Be courageous and wait for the appointed time (Is. 40:31).
And as you wait, trust also in His sovereignty, and give Him glory.
Shalom and good morning.
