When God Directs

Acts 9:11-12

New International Version

The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.”

For Your Encouragement

When God sends or directs, He gives specific instructions. He gives no room for speculation.

When God sent Ananias to heal Saul of Tarsus, He specified the name of Saul’s host, his address, the name of the person he should ask for (Acts 9:11-12). He also shared the vision He had given to Saul while praying and told him what to do to restore his sight. God left no room for ambiguity or speculation. He introduced Ananias to Paul before they met, leaving no room for doubt or deception. With such clarity, Ananias went with confidence.

Remember how the Gibeonites resorted to a ruse and deceived Joshua (Joshua 9:1-25) and the story of the man of God from Judah and the old prophet of Bethel (1 Kings 13:1-32). They both stand as warnings against accepting messages from people without consulting God. The consequences are never pleasant or desirable.

So, do not give yourself to what someone tells you if you have no clue or sensing about it. Step back, reflect, and seek the face of God.

When in doubt, raise the red flag until God brings it down.

Shalom
