Proverbs 6:16-19
New International Version (NIV)
There are six things the Lord hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
For Meditation
When God stops to give a list of the things He hates and detests, we must stop and take notice (Prov. 6:16-19). For they are things to avoid, so we may walk uprightly with Him.
Like the red signal at a traffic light, we move forward at our own risk. But think about the innocent people we could take with us when we get crushed in the middle of the intersection by another vehicle.
So, what are the propensities of your eyes, tongue, hands, heart, feet, speech, and actions? Do they bear marks of integrity?
See yourself, therefore, in the mirror of today’s scripture, and see your entire life before you. Are you looking good? Can you appreciate yourself?
Something to think about today!
