You Have Faith!

Mark 5:25

New International Version

And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years.

For Encouragement

Twelve years!

That is a lifetime of suffering—hemorrhaging and unable to enjoy her community, lonely, perhaps, and shunned by neighbors. Nobody desires defilement.

Doctors have had their turns with her, baffled, yet profiting from her predicament.

“Is there no balm in Gilead, Is there no physician there?” (Jer. 8:22).

Yes, there is!

His name is Jesus, and He is on His way to the house of Jairus to heal his twelve-year-old girl, desperate for the Master’s touch, just like this nameless woman.

“If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed” (Mk. 5:28).

That is it—faith that delivers grace for healing—that is all the woman had, so she musters courage and pushes through the crowd around Jesus with ardent expectation.

“Who touched me?” (Luke 8:45).

Master—the crowd! How can you ask such a question, Lord? Who else, but our friend Peter, would speak at such a time?

No! “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me” (46).

A pause—those piercing eyes—scanning the crowd, demanding a confession. Jesus is not asking for a testimony for His sake. A desperate Jairus with Him needs to hear the woman’s testimony to calm his heart and assure him of what would happen when Jesus gets to his house and touches his daughter.

Just like her, a desperate you need her testimony. For if you have called up Christ on your knees, have faith in Him till He gets to your case.

The woman fell on her knees, trembling, but with miraculous healing under her wings and joy bubbling in her heart.

“Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace” (48)

So, you have a problem? Jesus still makes house calls and has time for your situation. Unflinching faith is all you have to welcome Him into your home. And take heart, for nothing is impossible for Him (Luke 1:37).
