When We Don’t See the Possibility,

Numbers 11:22

New International Version

“Would they have enough if flocks and herds were slaughtered for them? Would they have enough if all the fish in the sea were caught for them?”

Your Encouragement

Abraham did not see how, at one hundred years, and Sarah at ninety, they could have a baby (Genesis 17:17). The father of faith thought it was too late for them. So, Lord, “Let us talk about something else—something realistic.”

Isn’t that how we think sometimes?

Moses looked at the numbers and closed the book on God in the wilderness. The people had irritated him for too long, and he couldn’t remember all the wonders of the Lord right from the day He called him on Sinai.

“Would they have enough if flocks and herds were slaughtered for them (Numbers 11:22)?”

For Moses, the people were too many to satisfy with anything in that dry land where nothing flourished. “Maybe, Lord, you made a mistake by taking us by this route,” he may have mused.

How so human!

The disciples of Jesus also committed the same offense when they thought the multitude were too many to feed in that remote place.

“It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” (John 6:7).

Philip thought Jesus was dreaming. The best thing to do was pack up and break camp. “Let each person on their own, Lord. Don’t worry about them. They will find something along way, trust us. They always have, I know.”

How soon we forget!

Three impossible situations, three different timelines, and settings, but the same thread running through them—doubt!

Doubt eclipses faith and causes the faithful to lose their sense of God. However, we have one common question from the Almighty to answer this morning.

“Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14).

So, do you think you have a problem or an impossible situation? Try Jesus, and it will amaze you to know that there is nothing outside the realm of possibility for Him.

That is why He is God.
