Presumptuous Suicide

Presumptuous Suicide

John 7:48

New International Version

Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him?

For Meditation

Ignorance is a disease. The Jewish rulers and Pharisees thought there was nobody among them who had believed in Jesus. Yet, Nicodemus had, but secretly (Jn. 3:1-15).

Thinking that none of them believed in Jesus was presumptuous suicide. Many have made the same mistake and lived to regret its consequence.

You cannot get everybody to disclose their convictions in group discussions all the time. Assuming that a consensus is a fact and acting on it without interrogating it yourself could be a dangerous denial of your liberty and freedom. It could be a sacrifice of your conscience on the altar of deception.

Free yourself, therefore, from associational bondages and trust Jesus with your life and that of your family today (Rm. 10:9-10).

You stand or fall before Christ alone and not with your friends or family.
