Luke 1:45
New International Version (NIV)
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!
For Meditation
She was a virgin and minding her own business. Gabriel gave her an incredible message: “You will be with a child and give birth to a son” (Luke 1:31).
It may have sounded incredulous to Mary, but her faith in God triumphed over the logic of her mind.. She yielded herself to God in obedience to His will. (35-36).
When Mary visited Elizabeth, the baby in Elizabeth’s womb leapt for joy at the sound of her greeting. What an amazing story!
Mary rose above doubts and received a blessing from the Holy Spirit (45). She joined the enviable company of Noah, Abraham, and Moses, who believed in God in impossible circumstances to do anything He chooses—even to enable a virgin to conceive.
You may have filed away some of God’s promises as impossible. Every encouragement sounds outrageous to consider. Without suggesting a virgin birth in your case, I can confidently tell you this. God can deliver on every personal promise He has made to you.
Your situation is not beyond what God can do. It is not wise to distrust Him like old Zechariah did (Luke 1:20). As Gabriel assured Mary, nothing is impossible with God (37).
Trust the Lord with the attitude of faith the three Hebrews boys exhibited before King Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 3:16-18). God is able, but if He doesn’t act as you expect, you respect His sovereign right to decide when and how to act.
Shalom.
