The King comes, riding on a donkey
Gentle and riding on a donkey,
On a colt, the foal of a donkey.
With righteousness and salvation, to give.
Look, the crowd forms quickly.
Excitement all over the place
Valuable cloaks surrendered.
And palm branches, too,
To pave the road for the King.
Hear the joyful shouts of
“Hosanna!”
to the Son of David—
the chant of
the ancient processional hymn,
a psalm to celebrate the Passover.
Feel the joy in the air.
Join the festive procession
to celebrate the King’s coronation —
veiled to the people yet happening live!
Established from eternity.
Let Gethsemane ready itself
for the power of divine prayer.
Warn the fake judges to beware,
For their day has come,
But for how long?
Though they will sit to judge Him,
They will instead stand trial
before Him—the Judge Plenipotentiary!
Prepare yourself, O, Calvary!
You who have become the mount of deliverance,
On you, the King will cry in agony
Over you, His Majesty will thirst for humanity
At your summit,
the shout of victory will resound.
“It is finished!”
So, rejoice, O people of God.
You who are the redeemed of Christ
For His banner over you is love.
His mantle on you is righteousness
Life forever in Him
Hosanna to the Son of David!
