Isaiah 40:25-26
New International Version
To whom will you compare me?
Or who is my equal? says the Holy One.
Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one
and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.
For Your Encouragement
What a powerful question to help you begin your day!
God asks this not to be boastful, though He reserves that right to Himself. Neither does He pose this question to frighten you. The Holy One asks you this question because He wants to comfort and encourage you amid whatever you’ve been struggling with throughout the week or before.
You’ve been down and out, bewildered and seeking answers, burdened by many things, and weighed down, abused, and trashed. You have been struggling to make sense of everything that has hit you like a tornado and devastated your life. Or maybe not. You only find yourself in a dreary place—not knowing what is going on with you.
Whatever your situation, God wants to comfort you this morning. He wants you to know you have a Father who has no equal. He is the Maker of heaven and earth and all things in them—the Alpha and Omega of the seen and unseen—the Omnipotent God. God is right there and in it with you. Jehovah tells you to take your eyes away from everything you have counted and leaned on till now and have an exalted view of Him, in whom alone hope thrives.
Step out of your dungeon and lift your eyes to the heavens and behold Him who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. He is the King of glory who says that because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing (26). Can you trust Him? Abraham did, and He credited it to him as righteousness (Gen. 15:5-6).
Jesus understands you are tired and weary—but remember that He is the God who renews the strength of those who hope in Him. He says such trusting saints will soar on wings like eagles, run and not grow weary, walk and not be faint.
He is yours to believe in and to find strength for the journey ahead.
