Your Helper By Your Side

Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations—Jeremiah 1:5.

The story is unverified, but it illustrates well how our Maker, God Almighty, knows us and has the remedy for every situation in our lives. It is the story of Henry Ford, who stopped to help a stranded motorist on a remote road in the middle of nowhere. One version says the surprised motorist asked the stranger how he knew so much to fix his car when he, a master mechanic, couldn’t fix it. To this, the stranger responded, “I am Henry Ford. I made the car.”

Can you imagine the sudden switch in emotions when the famous automobile maker introduced himself to the unidentified motorist at such an awkward time, in such a strange way, and at the most unlikely location?

Jeremiah may have felt the same way when the Lord introduced Himself to him this way.

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations” (Jer. 1:5).

How comforting it was to Jeremiah, who was struggling to understand God’s call on his life! How so true of you too?

The end of the year is here at last. It has caught you in the middle of nowhere with many broken situations in your life. Yet, 2023 looms ahead with its uncertainties to face. Is it not comforting to know that the Lord, who made you, is with you and can fix everything for you? Can you trust in His providential care?

I don’t know what 2022 has served you so far, which makes the coming year so dreary to contemplate. But why fear when your Maker has stopped to fix your broken life on earth’s highway and set your feet upon the firm country road to heaven?

Rejoice, my friend! Let this word of the Lord break into your heart to empower you to focus on Christ and finish this year well. He will give you a brand-new year soon, and all the sorrows and pains of 2022 will pass away.

The storms will rise. The gale may seem overwhelming. Sometimes the fog will get too dense, and you will feel lost and helpless. However, your Maker always knows where you are and will come by your side at the right time to fix you for the journey ahead.

May the Spirit of God strengthen your hand in whatever He leads you to do with courage, in the matchless name of Jesus!
