Psalm 27:1
New International Version
The Lord is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
For Meditation
I say, NONE!
God Himself is my light—not that He gives me light. He is my light that reveals and dispels every darkness and ushers me into His kingdom — the kingdom of the Son He loves (Col. 1:13)—who is the Light of the World (Jn. 8:12). He is my salvation, both spiritual and physical, in this world and the next—my Redeemer.
The Lord is my strength. No power can stand against me and prevail. He is my life—the old is gone, the new has come (2 Cor. 5:17)—so I will fear nothing.
The powers of darkness cannot prevail against me.
Hell cannot delight in any day to have me in its throes.
The giants of this world are no match to His power in me (Eph. 1:19-20; 2 Tim. 1:7).
Death has lost its power (1 Cor. 15:54-5).
Nothing can scare the obedient child of God who knows His position and standing in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
So, I walk boldly in Jesus and trust Him against those who advance against me ; for they will stumble and fall (Psalm 27:2). The only thing I ask of my Lord and God is that I may dwell in His house all the days of my life, and to gaze upon His beauty as I seek Him in His word.
My confidence is this: “I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living” (4).
I will therefore wait for Him in everything, trusting Him to act for the sake of His glory and my good.
So should you, my friend. Amen!
