Isaiah 49:16
New International Version
See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are ever before me.
For Encouragement
If God knows you this way, how can He forget you at any stage of your life?
He told Jeremiah to proclaim to Jerusalem how He remembers their youth and their sojourn with Him as a bride in the wilderness (Jeremiah 2:2). That is His delight in them—to think about them as His beloved and to care for them. Though He chastened them for their disobedience, He never forgot them.
Much more does Christ delight to think about you, His gorgeous bride, purchased with His blood. How can He then forget you at this low point of your life? He knows how it feels when He hanged on the cross (Matthew 27:46). How can He forsake you in your dire need?
So, take heart, my brother, and my sister. Like Zion, God has engraved you in the palm of His hands, and your wall is always before Him (Isaiah 49:16). You are that close to His heart, friend — you, His elect!
Just call on Him and trust Him with all your anxieties; for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
Shalom
