Psalm 46:1-7
New International Version (NIV)
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.[c]
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
The world is in turmoil and uproar—wars, earthquakes, snow blizzards of immense proportions, fires, political upheavals and strife, and economic hardship sweeping nations. Distress and uncertainty have invaded almost every home. At such a time, I want to encourage you with the message and promises of Psalm 46. It speaks to the current world situation and brings God near you for comfort, encouragement, and strength.
God is your refuge and strength (v.1). Never forget that! He is your ever-present help, even now and every other time of need. So, don’t be afraid.
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (v.10)
The Lord Almighty is with you. The God of Jacob is your fortress. (v.11)
So whatever you are going through today, receive His peace and let it guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Amen!
May you feel the blessed lightness of Jesus this weekend.
