If Only …

2 Kings 5:3

New International Version

She said to her mistress, “If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.”

For Meditation

If only the sinner will listen well and turn to Jesus!

The reference was to the prophet in Israel, not to the king. No wonder Israel’s king was distraught at the recommendation letter from his Aramean counterpart. How could he heal the accomplished soldier of Aram?

The astute officer had leprosy, despite his rank and money. If anything was and is still universally true, it is this:

There are some things human beings have no control over, despite our sophistication and accomplishments.

The captive girl in his home knew the only source of cure for her mistress’s husband, and she pitied him.

“If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy” (2 Kings 5:3).

Parading the halls of palaces and behind the glitter of Hollywood, Broadway, Dubai, breathtaking venues and the Catwalks of the fashion world hide the stain and wreckage of sin that nothing can take away except the crimson flood that flows from Calvary. Their smiles fade as the curtains come down on their acts, and their limousines take them to their plush five-star hotels for their last walk on the red carpet to their lavish suites. If only a hidden camera could reveal their misery! That is the universal situation of humanity, because of our sinful nature.

Naaman was your quintessential accomplished man like any of these modern heroes of life, the type of person society hails. However, he had leprosy, just as every human born of a woman has the inherited disease of sin (Romans 3:23)! But thank God, for Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 5:21).

He has made us His ambassadors, making His appeal through us—His redeemed (20). You are that young girl where you are, to direct the Naamans of this world to the foot of the cross for their cleansing and reception of new life, or they die and go to hell.

Do you have the heart to direct them to Christ, at least, with your testimony?

Nobody needs a recommendation letter from one king or president to another for their healing (2 Kings 5:4-6). Those officials need the Savior, too. The world prizes connections to access almost everything, but not so the Kingdom of God. There is only one Savior through whom the sinner can gain access to God for eternal life—Jesus Christ, the Eternal King (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Timothy 2:5).

O, dying soul!

If only you would hear the call of God and turn to Jesus with your sin burden, departing from all those deceptive mediums, you will receive salvation for your soul and eternal life with Him (Matthew 11:28-30; Romans 10:9-10, 13; John 17:3).
