Romans 8:33
New Living Translation
Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself.
For Encouragement
Worry and fear, while natural, are potent tools in the enemy’s arsenal. He wields them effectively against those who lack adequate knowledge about their faith. The key to victory lies in knowledge. When we understand our Savior and His promises, We can stand firm against these attacks. Remember, ignorance is not bliss in this battle. It is said that when you don’t know your authority, somebody will use it against you. That’s precisely what the enemy does with the uninformed believer.
It’s a sobering truth that ignorance is a choice. We choose not to know when we don’t take the steps to inform ourselves, for whatever reason. We choose to be ignorant about Jesus and the riches of our inheritance in Him when we neglect to read our Bibles purposefully to know Him. It is like getting excited about a Will but failing to examine the details of the inheritance. Somebody could sell your property to you.
One of the best promises our Lord Jesus Christ made to us is in Romans 8:33-34. When carefully considered, it shatters every fear of condemnation and rejection of the believer before God. It assures us of our solid position and security in Christ. Check these out.
In Christ Jesus, God has given the believer the right to stand before Him (Rm. 5:1-2). We have righstanding with Him. So, who can accuse those He has saved (8:33)?
The One who judges the sinner has taken our place on the Cross and paid the penalty for our sins in full (Rm. 3:25; 5:8; 2 Cor. 5:21). So, who can condemn us before Him?
Our Advocate, Jesus Christ (1 Jn. 2:1), sits in the seat of honor and intercedes for us (Rm. 8:34). So, who can bring a charge against us and prevail?
Why, then, do we worry so much about the accusations of people? Can the false teachings about the security of the believer nullify the atonement (Heb 2:17; 1 Jn. 2:2)?
Is Jesus’s blood so cheap for God to waste it because a believer sins (1 Jn. 1:8-10)? Is God so untruthful (Jn. 3:16; 6:39-40)? Where is His faithfulness (2 Tim. 2:13)?
I pray the Lord will assure you of His faithfulness to His Word and grace that will carry you into His eternal presence. The enemy cannot handle such an attitude because it neutralizes his trusted weapons of worry and fear.
So, please keep a brief account with God (1 Jn. 1:9), trusting Christ’s finished work for you. May the indwelling Holy Spirit liberate you from the fear of doom and allow you to sing God’s praises in Christ.
Believe in the One who has said, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hands” (Jn. 10:28).
This promise is our anchor in the storm, our beacon of hope. Amen!
