Were There Not Three?

Daniel 3:24

New International Version

Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?”

For Meditation

Their fidelity challenged his authority, and he was fuming with rage. How dare they disrespect the king before his trusted officials!

Weren’t there three men we tied up and threw into the fire?… Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.

Eat your heart out, King Nebuchadnezzar! The fourth man you see is not the son of the gods. He is the Pre-incarnate Christ, He who created you. You don’t mess up with His faithful servants. His Presence with them turns overheated furnaces into air-conditioned rooms. See and marvel, but more than that, humble yourself and yield to Him for life.

God never leaves His faithful nor forsakes them (Hebrews 13:5). His Presence goes with them through every situation – the waters, rivers, and the fires (Isaiah 43:2). You may not see Him, but the child of faith knows He is there with him – guiding, protecting, comforting, providing, and strengthening.

He may not deliver as He did for Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Daniel 3:24-27), or as with Daniel in the lion’s den (6:19-22), but He is always there through your ordeals. That was the joy of Stephen (Acts 7:54-56) and countless old saints who stood against evil, defied wicked threats of tyrants and enemies of the cross, and embraced death.

I don’t know your situation today or the rumblings in your heart because of the threats of financial collapse, medical reports, dysfunctional family, marital instability, or any of such threats. Neither do I know how He will deal with your situation. I can promise you this: God is in all of it with you as He was with the three Hebrew boys that shook the world of Nebuchadnezzar. He will never leave you nor forsake you.

That is a promise you can take to the Bank of Heaven.

Pray With Me

Father, in the name of Jesus, please give us the heart of a lion and the strength of an eagle that our faith would stand indomitably against every life challenge and prevail for your glory. Amen!
