Exodus 15:18
New International Version (NIV)
“The Lord reigns
for ever and ever.”
For meditation
The best time to declare the Lord’s reign over your life’s affairs is when you are in the valley. When human wisdom declares otherwise, it is time for the righteous to shout the Lordship and authority of Jesus Christ in our lives, for there is no one like Jehovah, none like our King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God. To Him alone, we ascribe honor and glory forever and ever, amen (1 Tim. 1:17). He created all things, seen and unseen (Col. 1:16), rules over everything, and sustains all things by His powerful word (Heb. 1:3).
God has never abdicated His reign over His creation at any time. He continues and will reign forever and ever (Ex. 15:18). He knows what He is doing and has ordered everything according to His set times. How wise for every soul to know that God judged the world in His time during the time of the floods but saved only righteous Noah and his family. In time, He judged Pharaoh and his best officers, chariots, and horsemen (Ex. 15:3-4).
Thank God that on Calvary, He sacrificed His Son for our redemption. Through Christ, God has opened the door into His presence for all who will believe and yield their hearts to the Lordship and rule of Jesus (Heb. 10:19-20). He will uphold the righteous when defiant sin and the world escalates as the day of the Lord approaches.
I pray that in times like today, you will know the best response to bring along the surging waters of wickedness as a child of God. It is time to sing with Moses:
Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you—majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders (Exodus 15:11)?
It is time to sing with Hannah:
There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God (1 Sam. 2:2).
So: Let your soul glorify the Lord today and let your spirit rejoice in God your Savior, as Mary would sing (Lk. 1:46-47); for your God reigns and will continue to reign forever and ever.
It is not the time for placards! It is not time for condemnation, venting anger, and spewing hatred and insults. We can’t descend into the sewers to engage the world at its worst. Though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. Instead, we fight with spiritual weapons loaded with divine power to demolish strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). That is how we engage the world at its worst, how we shout from the rooftops:
Our Lord Jesus reigns forever and ever! Amen!
Shalom
Receive the Benediction
Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
