Genesis 24:26-27
New International Version (NIV)
Then the man bowed down and worshiped the Lord, saying, “Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master.”
For Meditation
He was the chief servant of Abraham on a mission to court a wife for his master’s son. The journey was long, but he endured it. But, standing at the entrance of the city of Nahor in Mesopotamia, how could he know the right woman for Isaac, as Abraham had obliged him on oath (Gen. 24:1-4)? He referenced his master’s lifestyle and turned to Abraham’s God in prayer (12-14). The Lord answered his supplication and brought Rebekah to him as the woman for Isaac (15-22). The servant knew what Abraham would have done in that instant of answered prayer—give thanks to his God. So, the servant “bowed down and worshipped the Lord.” He poured his heart before the Lord and thanked Him, “Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master” (26-27).
Isn’t that a wonderful testimony? How about you? Can your house help bear witness to your life and emulate your example?
We all have something to thank God for and to lift His name among all people. God’s benevolence has shone brightly upon you through the years, right up to the middle of 2025. Is it expecting too much of you to acknowledge His goodness and raise your hands in worship and praise to the King of kings and Lord of your life? You remain strong, despite this week presenting challenges. That suffices for your thanks. Your successes belong to God, so lay them on His altar with all your heart. As Paul says, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thess. 5:18).
As you enter the weekend, take a moment to praise and thank the Lord for His countless blessings on you and your family. He deserves all the praise for who He is and your standing in Christ Jesus. May you rejoice in the freedom you have in Christ and pour out your heart in abundant thanksgiving to Jesus today. He is worthy. Amen.
Pray with Me
What shall I render to the Lord
For all His benefits toward me?
will take up the cup of salvation,
And call upon the name of the Lord.
I will pay my vows to the Lord
Now in the presence of all His people. (Psalms 116:12-14).
You, O Lord, are worthy, and I give it all to you, Christ Jesus, my Savior and King. Amen!
