God’s Personal Concern – You!

1 Peter 5:7

New King James Version

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

For Encouragement

The statement grabbed me by the throat and wouldn’t let go.

I had something else to write from Paul’s letter to Titus, but Alistair Begg’s devotional yesterday changed everything.

After walking us through the story of how God provided for Israel from the Exodus out of Egypt, through the wilderness sojourn with a daily portion of manna, until they entered the Promised Land, Alistair hammered down this reminder as a memorial for the redeemed.

You are God’s personal concern, and you may approach Him in confidence, asking Him to give you all that is necessary for today. And then you can trust Him to give you exactly what you need today, and then tomorrow, and forever onwards.

I do not know how the week has gone for you, but I can surmise that not everybody has had a pleasant experience. Whatever happened or is threatening your peace might have left you burdened and anxious as you head into the weekend. Whether it is your health, finances, marriage, work, friendships, ministry, spiritual, or physical life, your head is spinning with the potential to raise your blood pressure.

What do you do, and where do you find help? On whom do you offload your concerns, with the assurance of satisfaction and peace? Most importantly, does anybody care? Oh, do I have good news for you!

The One who created you and redeemed you from your fallen state says, “I care for you personally! Bring all your cares to me, and I will faithfully take care of them (1 Pt. 5:7)?” [Summarized].

Can you trust His unwavering love and care?

You have learned and trusted many things that have failed you. Systems, philosophies, ideologies, traditional and religious beliefs, constitutions, governments, and institutions with their limitations and breaking points. Family, friends, and colleagues haven’t helped either. Truth be told.

The sincerest and best-meaning people can break your heart in times of your greatest need. They are human, like you, fallen and limited in genuine support, ability, faithfulness, and integrity (2 Chron. 32:8).

However, there is our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who cannot and will never fail you. He will deliver, provide, sustain, protect, and strengthen you, regardless of your need.

His sacrificial and everlasting love undergirds His Omniscience, Omnipresence, Omnipotence, and Immutability to ensure these. There is no one like our Jesus. He knows your situation, cares for you, and desires to help you with a personal invitation (Matt. 11:28; 1 Pt. 5:7; Heb. 4:16). Why?

He created and formed you. He has redeemed you, and He summons you by name. You are His child, and He will endure all things with you (Isa. 43:1-2). Therefore, everything about you is His Personal concern. O, how melodious the sound of it!

Think about this glorious truth:

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? (Rm. 8:32)

So, what is your need going into the weekend?

Pray with me

Father, you are a good, good God. There is no one like you. Everything and everyone in the entire universe will fail us, but you will never. We have needs and concerns that have burdened us, and by your invitation, we come to lay them all on you. May your mercy and grace provide and sustain us, and bring us your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Amen.
