Matthew 19:26
New International Version (NIV)
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
For meditation
The selection process was over and she sat in the bus with a heavy heart. What was she going to tell her little girl whose hope had come to rest in mama’s chance of getting this job? Little Annie was tired of the same food for diner every day and the cold showers that made her dread bathing. Many times, she had observed the torture her mother went through, trying to come up with another story for the landlord. Their light had been cut for over three months and she had gotten used to the candle light for her bedtime stories. She had cried many times when mama tried to hide her desperate sobs in her bed, and she prayed this job to be their ticket out of their woes.
“Watch where you’re going lady”, the angry driver said. “What’s wrong with you?”
As Dinah nervously scrambled to pick the meager grocery she had bought for diner from the road, she couldn’t hold back her tears. A lady stopped to help her and offered her a ride to her house. Three days later, a courier came with a letter. Her smile revealed her heart as Dinah cleaned the offices of her Good Samaritan three days after. Night school opened up to Dinah, and some few years later, she was managing her own law firm with three associates on her pay roll. Little Annie was one of them.
When life deals you with one hard blow after another, never succumb to its deadly notion that change is impossible for you. “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible,” Jesus told His disciples (Matt. 19: 26).
- Are you where Dinah was some years ago, battling fear and doubt?
- Are your prayers weakening, as hope dims by the day?
- Has God become too distant for your consolation?
- Are you inclining towards your unbelieving neighbor’s proposition?
- Is your heart getting calloused from all the disappointments you’ve suffered in your time?
I pray you hear the words of the Lord Jesus for yourself today that with man, it is impossible for the camel to go through the eye of the needle, but not so with God. With the All-Mighty God, all things are possible; including your situation.
So: May you start believing again that because Jesus lives, you can face tomorrow; and may His grace sustain your faith until God’s time fully comes for your uplifting.
Who said there is no God?
Shalom
