When David came to Mahanaim, Shobi … Makir … and Barzillai … brought bedding and bowls and articles of pottery … flour and roasted grain, beans and lentils, honey and curds, sheep, and cheese from cows’ milk for David and his people to eat. For they said, “The people have become exhausted and hungry and thirsty in the wilderness. ”

Our Comfort

When you are weary and desperate, the times when hell has broken loose against you, when you’re tired and needing rest, God, our Great Provider, will surprise you with provision beyond your imagination. David was in such a situation when he had to flee from his son Absalom (2 Samuel 17:27-29).

So, trust the Lord and rest in Him in your current situation. His providential hand is working behind the scenes to refresh you at your lowest point. Even if it takes birds to feed you, God will do it (1 Kings 19:3-8). You will see the beauty of God’s provision, and marvel at His grace.

As Paul said, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

May God surprise you today with His bounty and refreshing provision in Christ Jesus. Amen!
