It’s Not Over For You!

“Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep.” But they laughed at him.

Matthew 9:24

For Meditation
Jesus is called into this situation.

A synagogue leader calls on Him for healing for his daughter. Luke reveals him as Jairus (Lk. 8:41). Jesus is interrupted on the way by a hemorrhaging woman for twelve years. Her faith delivers her healing (48). In the meantime, Jairus’ daughter dies (49).

A noisy crowd greets Jesus in his house.

“Stop wailing … She is not dead but asleep” (52).

But they laugh at Jesus.

He enters the room, takes the dead girl by the hand.

“My child, get up!”

The child gets up. Jesus tells them to feed her. The parents are astonished. He tells them not to tell anybody (Really, Jesus?), and He walks away.

That’s the man called Jesus. He heals, restores dignity, renews faith, and amazes everybody with His power and authority. Sickness is nothing to Him, nor death, a hindrance to his power. And why is that?

He is God! Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Immutable. That’s who He is.

Trust Jesus for His ability to heal and command every dead situation in your life to come alive. Go to Him for help like Jairus did, despite your orthodoxy. Have faith in Him like the woman with the issue of blood for twelve years; touch Him and receive your healing. Believe Him when everybody says it’s over for you, but He tells you, “Don’t be afraid; just believe” (50). People may laugh at what He says about your situation, but don’t lose it to them. Hold on to His promise, and see your dead situation come alive at His command.

It is well, my friend. It’s not over until Jesus calls it.

“Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
