God Almighty

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.

Genesis 17:1

For Meditation

Three things the Lord told Abraham that we want to hold up today for our encouragement.

  1. To know that He is God Almighty.
  2. To walk faithfully with Him.
  3. To be blameless before Him.

God reminded Abraham that when He makes a covenant (Genesis 15:4-5), He is All-powerful and All sufficient to keep it (17:1). This was after Abraham had staggered in faith and had a son with Hagar (16:1-4). The old couple could not trust God long enough to give them the covenant son. Though Abraham believed God and it was credited to Him as righteousness (15:6), the waiting period tested his faith and became unbearable for him and Sarah. So, they helped God. But does God need help?

Maybe your faith has been tested to a similar limit and caused you to stumble. God is calling you to repent and renew your faith in Him, who can keep His promises. He is assuring you that He can give you everything you need to walk in covenant relationship with Him.

Today, El-Shaddai is calling you to walk faithfully with Him and determine to do nothing that will weigh on your conscience before Him (17:1; 39:9; Dan. 1:8).

You will see His glory in due time if you do not give up.

  1. Amen! Father, grant us grace to always recognize that You are Abba, the Faithful Father, The Source and The Sustainer. Recognizing the Fatherhood of God and a true understanding that HE is indeed Almighty is enough to give rest and assurance from all worries.

-Thanks Dad for this liberating truth you share always. God bless you!

  2. Just like Abraham, we’ve been called from darkness to light through Christ that we may live a righteous and blameless life. Thanks be to God for his unconditional Love.
