My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So, I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20
For Meditation
From today, stop trying to be good. It only leads to hypocrisy and makes you a human-pleaser. You know that only God is good. (Lk. 18:19). Rather, live crucified with Christ – dead to self and alive to God through Him who rose from the dead and is seated at the right hand of God in majesty.
Jesus, our resurrected Savior, is your life now. You live in Him through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. That is what Paul succinctly expresses in our scripture for today. “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me” (Gal. 2:20).
If you think you are the one who woke up this morning from your sleep, you are dead in your trespasses. You do not know Christ. For, the one who knows Him and belongs to Him reckons their life in Him alone. They know they are dead without Him, so their life does not belong to them anymore. They know it is Christ who lives in them.
This perspective is revolutionary. It changes the way we think, react, and do things. It will transform our marriages, friendships, sibling relationships, and Christian fellowship.
So today, if somebody steps on your toe, count yourself dead – crucified with Christ (Rm. 12:1). A dead person has no feeling. You are alive only because Christ lives in you (6:4). Let Christ react then, and you will see the difference. Remind yourself that “to live is Christ” (Phil. 1:21) and let your reaction be led by His Spirit. Your reaction will only be what brings Him glory. Remember that it is “God [who] is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him” (Phil. 2:13).
That is transformed living, with a renewed mind in Christ (Rm. 12:2).
Shalom and good morning.
Amen!
