Isaiah 54:17
New King James Version
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord.
For Encouragement
Is it not heartwarming to end the week with such a high promise?
It was refreshing news to the Israelites in the days of Isaiah, and it is glorious to us now. The Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53 has come and established His church. We, the redeemed, look forward to His return and the consummation of all things as prophesied in Revelation 21-22 to end our travails forever.
In the meantime, we suffer and groan (2 Cor. 5: 2, 4). Christ has given us life to enjoy to the fullest (John 10:10), but we have an enemy who roars around like a lion, seeking to do us harm and prevent us from enjoying the fullness of our salvation on this side of eternity (1 Peter 5:8).
Paul tells us we fight not against flesh and blood, “but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Eph. 6:12).
John adds another dimension that combines the love of the world (1 John 2:15-17) and the spirit of the antichrist to deceive and rob us of everything godly (4:2-3). They ply their false religion, teaching, and doctrines and invite us to share in their demonic worship styles and fashion galore in the name of Christ. Our flesh, another enemy (James 1:12), is its prime target, and its weakness does not help in this war.
All these forces work against the children of God in different dimensions and spheres we sometimes do not perceive as causes of our problems and battles in life.
This week may have been a difficult one for you. There were complex meetings with tough decisions to make. The news from your doctor did not help. Horrifying financial news and sales reports, the report from the school of your child, your worsening marital conditions, and church politics were not uplifting. As you sit down to unwind, your landlord comes with an eviction notice. What else could go wrong? Frustration creeps into anger, and you are terrified. What is going on? God, where are you?
Take heart, my friend, for you have Christ. You can believe the prophecy of Isaiah to the Israelites that “no weapon forged against [you] will prevail” (Isaiah 54:17). The enemy will do his worst, but Christ is on His throne.
To walk in His victory, put on the whole armor of God, and stand firm against the onslaught that comes your way (Ephesians 6:11-18). Employ those spiritual weapons (Gal. 5:22-23) that have divine power to demolish strongholds (2 Cor. 10:3- 5).
Finally, remember that holiness is the emblem on your helmet that the enemy cannot stand. So walk in it to victory in the matchless name of Christ Jesus. Amen!
